Prague's Mews acquires Montreal-based Hotello to expand in North America

Mews, a Prague-based leader in hospitality technology and cloud-based property management systems (PMS), has recently acquired Hotello, a Montreal-based cloud property management system (PMS) for hotel properties, in a deal that was led by Mews Ventures, the investment and venture arm of the company.

While the financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, the move has been seen as part of Mews’ strategy to further strengthen its growth in North America, with a specific focus on the Canadian market.

Mews offers the Mews Hospitality Cloud, which is specifically designed to streamline operations for modern hoteliers, transform the guest experience, and create more profitable businesses.

The company has gained a reputation as a leader in the hospitality technology space, with customers such as Accor, Generator-Freehand, Nordic Choice Hotels, The Social Hub, Life House, and Les Airelles. Mews’ cloud-based system powers over 3,500 properties in 80 countries across the globe, and it has offices located in Europe, the United States, and Australia.

On the other hand, Hotello, which was founded in 2001 and is led by CEO Anaïs Berzi, provides a cloud-based property management system that focuses on improving communication between systems, people, and environments to create efficient user and customer experiences. The company has roughly 500 customers in Canada and the United States, and its acquisition by Mews further solidifies the latter’s position as a leader in the hospitality technology industry.

The acquisition of Hotello represents the sixth acquisition for Mews Ventures, which was launched with the goal of accelerating the technological transformation of the hospitality industry. Previous acquisitions include Planet Winner in 2019, Base7Booking in 2020, Hotel Perfect in 2021, Cenium in 2022, and Bizzon in 2022. With this acquisition, Mews is poised to continue its growth trajectory, both in North America and around the world.
