Rex Airlines signs LoI for two more Boeing 737-800NG jets

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Rex Airlines has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to lease two Boeing 737-800NG jets.

The two aircraft are expected to arrive in Australia in June and July 2023. The arrival of these jets will bring Rex’s fleet of Boeing 737-800NGs to nine.

Rex Deputy Chairman, the Hon John Sharp AM, said, “Rex’s domestic jet services have been performing very strongly and have been profitable in the past four months.

“The travelling public has been crying out for our reliable, affordable services and these new additions will help to alleviate the situation.

“We are still deciding where to deploy these additional aircraft and will explore all options.”

Rex Airlines is Australia’s largest independent regional and domestic airline operating a fleet of 61 Saab 340 and 7 Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to 58 destinations throughout all states in Australia.

In addition to the airline Rex, the Rex Group comprises wholly owned subsidiaries Pel-Air Aviation (air freight, aeromedical and charter operator), the Australian Airline Pilot Academy with campuses in Wagga Wagga and Ballarat, and propeller maintenance organisation, Australian Aerospace Propeller Maintenance. Rex is also a 50% shareholder of National Jet Express (NJE), a premier Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO), charter and freight operator.
