Michelle Hinchliffe joins Macquarie Group and Macquarie Bank Boards

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Macquarie Group and Macquarie Bank Chairman, Peter Warne, announced the appointment of Michelle Hinchliffe to the Macquarie Group Limited (ASX: MQG) and Macquarie Bank Limited (ASX: MBL) Boards as an independent director.

She has also become a member of Macquarie’s Board Audit, Board Risk and Board Nominating Committees.

Ms Hinchliffe has extensive experience in the financial services sector, leading large global teams in the provision of external audit, internal audit and advisory services to clients across the sector during a 37-year career with KPMG.

Michelle Hinchliffe was appointed a partner at KPMG in 1997 and served as the firm’s UK Chair of Audit, having held a range of senior roles in the UK and Australia. Ms Hinchliffe previously led KPMG’s financial services practice in Australia and was a member of the KPMG Australia Board. She retired from KPMG UK in February 2022. From 1 March 2022, Ms Hinchliffe has also been appointed as an independent director on the Board of BHP.

Ms Hinchliffe’s appointment follows the previously announced retirement of Diane Grady on 24 February 2022. Ms Grady had been a director of MGL and MBL since May 2011.

The appointment results in the Macquarie Group Board comprising 10 members, including five female directors (Macquarie Bank Board 11 members, including five female directors).
