Matthew Crummack joins Domestic & General as CEO

Matthew is currently the senior independent non-executive director of National Express Group plc, a position he has held since May 2015.

LONDON, UK: Domestic & General (D&G) announced that Matthew Crummack has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He will join the Board of Directors and the Company’s Executive Committee on Monday 4th October 2021.

Matthew joins D&G from GoCo Group, the home of the popular price comparison website GoCompare.com, where he served as Group CEO from 2016, overseeing the company’s transition into a digital platform business with more diversified and higher retention revenue streams.

He left the business earlier this year after the successful sale of the company to publishing group, Future plc. Between 2011 and 2015, Matthew was CEO of lastminute.com, the online travel and leisure business. He has also worked in senior roles at Expedia, Nestle, and Procter & Gamble.

Matthew is currently the senior independent non-executive director of National Express Group plc, a position he has held since May 2015.

David Tyler, Executive Chairman of D&G, said: “Since the sudden and tragic death of Ian Mason in April, my top priority has been to find a CEO of the highest quality to succeed Ian. Matthew has exactly the combination of skills and experience we need at D&G as we deliver our ambitious growth strategy.

He brings strong leadership and significant experience developing digital propositions for consumers. He has operated in global companies, and understands the dynamics of a strong customer-centric model rooted in subscriptions, which is what we have at D&G. We look forward to welcoming Matthew in October.”

Matthew Crummack added: “I’m delighted to be joining the fantastic team at D&G. This is a business with a powerful customer proposition that gives millions of people “repair or replace” peace of mind when it comes to managing their home appliances. The business is seeing subscription growth both in its core UK and international markets because of that customer focus.

My ambition is to build on this success, bringing my skills in digital to bear, as well as my wider corporate and international experience. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the business and continuing to deliver against the customer-centric plan established by my predecessor.”

David Tyler will stand down as Executive Chairman once Matthew Crummack has joined the business and will return to his position as non-executive Chairman. Matthew’s appointment as CEO is subject to regulatory approval.

Established over 100 years ago, D&G is a leading provider of appliance care in the UK with a growing presence overseas. Operating from eleven markets with about 3,000 employees in total, D&G provides cover for 5.8 million subscription customers and performs 2.4 million repairs annually.

In addition to the UK, D&G operates in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Australia and elsewhere. www.domesticandgeneral.com
