LONDON: Mattioli Woods plc announced the appointment of Professor Barry Gilbertson to the role of Executive Chairman of its subsidiary, Custodian Capital Limited (CCL) with effect from 1 January 2021.
Barry joins with a wealth of experience having previously held the role of Senior Independent Non-Executive Director at Custodian REIT (LSE: CREI), the UK property investment company, for which CCL is the appointed discretionary investment manager. He previously held Non-Executive Director roles at Rona Inc. and Granite REIT.
In his executive career, Barry spent 19 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, 15 years as a Partner, developing and leading the Real Estate team within the Business Recovery and Turnaround practice including 3 years as a member of the PwC’s Global Real Estate Board.
Barry was granted a one year sabbatical to undertake a global position as President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. His career also includes notable roles as Founder Chairman of the Non-Administrative Receivers Association, Founder Deputy Chairman of the World Association of Valuation Organisations, a leading member of the United Nations Real Estate Advisory Group and The Bank of England Property Forum and as Visiting Professor at both Northumbria and the Royal Agricultural Universities.
Given Barry’s considerable experience and understanding of real estate, strategy and risk management, this new role will focus on development and oversight of the strategy to expand the CCL offering to new and existing clients. This includes the growth of the Private Investor Club to our network of 1,100 sophisticated investors through property asset-backed finance and new structures including private equity style investment.
