Financial Education Competition for Universities

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) has closed registration for its second annual Financial Education Competition for Universities, whose final ceremony will be held and its prizes will be presented on March 17, 2020.

Students’ teams from seven universities/colleges are participating in the event including:

  • College of Business and Economics (Male) – Qatar University
  • Georgetown University Qatar
  • College of Islamic Studies – Hamad Bin Khalifa University
  • Stenden Qatar University
  • Community College Qatar
  • AFG College with the University of Aberdeen
  • Carnegie Mellon University – Qatar
  • College of Business and Economics (Female) – Qatar University

The second edition of this competition represents Qatar Stock Exchange’s commitment to improve financial and investment awareness among future generations.

It is worth noting that Qatar Stock Exchange annually calls on students to carry out a research on a certain theme and to provide the required analysis and recommendations. Additionally, Students are required to present the results of their research before an independent jury consisting of a distinguished group of judges with great experience in the financial and economic field. The theme for this year is “The Importance of Financial Analysis in Stocks Valuation”.

The QSE announcement stated that Qatar Financial Center (QFC) has signed an agreement to become the Exclusive Partner of the 2020 Competition. Sarah Al-Dorani, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, QFC said: The QFC initiatives towards financial literacy and youth empowerment reflect our commitment to investing in Qatar’s youth and promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) of Quality Education. The QSE Financial Education Competition is aligned with that commitment and we are honored to partner with Qatar Stock Exchange in delivering this event”.

Hussain Al Abdulla, QSE Marketing and Communications Director, on the partnership of QFC, said, “With its robust and diversified platform and expertise that provides opportunities to expand knowledge and investments to and from the Middle East, QFC represents a huge addition to our program this year and we are very proud to have them on board”.

QSE is also pleased to announce that “Aamal Company” is selected to be the case study for this year’s analysis due to its well-informative website, which provide comprehensive information, in particular the Investor Relations section, which offers sufficient information that investors and financial analysts require.

On this occasion, QSE competition team is extremely pleased and proud to announce also the joining of QNB as diamond sponsor Doha Bank as the sponsor of the venue, and the Group Securities Company as a gold sponsor of this version of the competition. “This represents the high interest of leading financial and commercial entities in Qatar to support financial education process and scientific research in our beloved country.” Hussain Al Abdulla said.
