SYDNEY: SeaLink Travel Group Limited advised that significant damage has been sustained to the SeaLink owned Vivonne Bay Lodge at Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island as a result of recent bush fire activity.
The full extent of the damage is not yet known and a further assessment of damage will be undertaken in the coming days as access is more readily available. All guests and personnel were evacuated from the Vivonne Bay property on Thursday 9 January 2020 in line with emergency service warnings and well ahead of the recent bushfire activity.
SeaLink further advises it carries appropriate insurance for the Vivonne Bay property, has access to alternative sites from which its operations and tours on Kangaroo Island may be operated, and currently considers the damage to Vivonne Bay Lodge will not have a material adverse impact on SeaLink Group earnings.
SeaLink is continuing to work with emergency services and SeaLink’s personnel are working tirelessly to assist and support emergency services, authorities, residents and staff impacted by the bushfires. SeaLink is working actively with governments to rebuild the Island infrastructure and the tourism industry including re-establishing operations from Vivonne Bay Lodge as soon as practical.
