Marula Mining strengthens management team

LONDON, UK: Marula Mining PLC, a mining and mine development company in the battery metals sector in Africa, has announced significant management appointments as it prepares for its planned listing on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market.

These appointments aim to strengthen the company’s management team at both the corporate level in Nairobi and across its operational bases in East and Southern Africa.

The newly appointed management team will play a crucial role in driving the company’s mine production and development strategy in the battery metals sector while supporting its upcoming listing on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market. These appointments mark a pivotal phase for Marula as it expands its operations and focuses on its core activities in the Sports and Gaming divisions.

Key highlights of the management appointments include:

  1. Mr. Tokkas van Heerden appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO):
    • Responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s mining, development, and ore processing operations throughout Africa.
    • Sets and delivers on the company’s operating and capital budgets and forecasts to meet corporate objectives and financial targets.
    • Ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as environmental, health and safety, social corporate responsibility, and ESG policies.
  2. Mr. Henk van Zyl appointed as General Manager Operations Southern Africa:
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the company’s mining and processing operations in Southern Africa, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
    • Ensures regulatory compliance and adherence to environmental, health, safety, and ESG policies.
  3. Mr. Edward Ruheni appointed as General Manager Operations East Africa:
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the company’s mining and processing operations in East Africa, including Tanzania.
    • Focuses on regulatory compliance and adherence to environmental, health, safety, and ESG policies.

Other key management appointments include Ms. Melissa Ndele as the Group’s Financial Controller, Ms. Shiko Muchai as Joint Company Secretary, Ms. Faith Kinyanjui as Investor Relations Manager and Digital Strategist, and Ms. Eunice Wairima as Social Corporate Responsibility and ESG Manager. These appointments further strengthen the company’s management team based at its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Marula Mining also plans to enhance its Board of Directors by appointing key independent and non-executive members to better represent the company’s activities and presence in Southern and East Africa. The company expects to make further announcements regarding these appointments in due course.
