Paladin Studios, an independent game developer from the Netherlands known for collaborating with Nintendo on the 2020 Switch eShop game Good Job!, has declared the closure of its operations after a nearly two-decade run.
The studio, established in 2005 and once boasting a workforce of 55, has worked alongside notable industry names like Apple Arcade, Netflix, and Bandai Namco, contributing to popular franchises including Cut The Rope, Tamagotchi, and the Katamari series. Despite a team of 45 talented individuals, Paladin has faced challenges in securing sufficient projects recently, leading to a critical juncture regarding its financial stability.
While the studio ceases its creative endeavors, it assures continued technical support for its portfolio of games.
This news comes amidst a wave of closures affecting smaller entities within the Private Division, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. The gaming sector is experiencing a particularly difficult period, with significant layoffs impacting major players such as Microsoft and Sony, underscoring a year of hardship for the industry at large.
