STOW: AML3D Limited announced Monday a $9.9 million order to supply four custom ARCEMY X metal 3D printing systems to Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII.
The order brings the total number of ARCEMY X systems at the shipyard to six. HII is the largest military shipbuilder in the United States, constructing aircraft carriers, submarines and other defense vessels under U.S. Navy contracts.
The systems will be manufactured and shipped from AML3D’s U.S. Technology Center in Stow, Ohio. They are expected to be installed and operational by the third quarter of fiscal year 2027.
The customized ARCEMY X 6700 units will include an 11,000-kilogram positioner to support heavy-capacity metal part fabrication and replacement for shipbuilding applications. Officials said the technology reduces production lead times, improves part quality and cuts material waste compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
“The step change in the size and value of this HII ARCEMY order is very much reflective of the strong and growing demand signals that underpin AML3D’s continued expansion into the U.S. defense market,” said Sean Ebert, CEO of AML3D.
The company said it plans to invest $12 million to expand its U.S. production capacity. It has also supplied ARCEMY systems to the Tennessee Valley Authority and is targeting growth in the U.S. marine, energy, aerospace and oil and gas sectors.
AML3D is based in Australia and trades on the Australian Securities Exchange under the symbol AL3.
