RIYADH – Saudi Arabia’s Tanmiah Food Company has signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with industrial technology firm Schneider Electric and local firms Strataphy and Kayes Arabia to accelerate its decarbonization plans and improve energy efficiency, the company said on Sunday.
The agreements, announced at the Saudi Agri-Food Tech Alliance (SAFTA) Forum in Riyadh, are part of Tanmiah’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals.
The partnerships will see the vertically integrated poultry producer develop a science-based carbon reduction plan, deploy the region’s first geothermal-cooled poultry farm, and convert diesel equipment to cleaner liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Under the agreement with Schneider Electric, Tanmiah will develop a comprehensive carbon inventory and set measurable emission reduction targets using the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) framework. The project also aims to decarbonize its supply chain by engaging key suppliers.
In a separate collaboration with Saudi startup Strataphy, Tanmiah will implement a geothermal cooling system at its Shaqrah Facility. Operated under a “Cooling as a Service” model, the system is designed as a scalable, low-carbon solution for poultry production.
A third MoU with Kayes Arabia focuses on converting diesel-powered equipment at Tanmiah’s farms and processing plants to LPG systems, a move expected to lower emissions and reduce operational costs.

The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of Mansour Almushaiti, the Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and was attended by industry leaders and policymakers.
