Schneider Electric launches all-in-one battery energy storage system for microgrids

PARIS: In response to the growing need for energy resilience, Schneider Electric has launched a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), marking a significant advancement in microgrid technology. The BESS is designed to provide a robust and scalable solution for energy management and automation, ensuring efficient and safe storage of energy from diverse sources.

Amidst climate change and geopolitical uncertainties threatening energy security, Schneider Electric’s BESS stands out as a versatile Distributed Energy Resource (DER). It supports a broad spectrum of energy-use cases, from enhancing resiliency and reducing demand charges to promoting renewable energy consumption and smoothing variable generation.

Bala Vinayagam, Senior Vice President of Microgrids at Schneider Electric, emphasizes the importance of reliable energy supply and the company’s commitment to delivering a system that fosters resilience, sustainability, and cost savings. The BESS is a testament to Schneider Electric’s two decades of expertise in power conversion and battery storage.

The system comprises integrated battery modules, racks, a management system, power conversion units, and controllers. It is fully compatible with Schneider Electric’s microgrid systems and EcoStruxure software suite, including Microgrid Operation and Microgrid Advisor.

“Our new Battery Energy Storage System marks a significant step forward in enabling storage and connection with Distributed Energy Resources that is flexible enough to meet the future energy demand needs,” Vinayagam said. “Amidst the global pursuit of net-zero objectives and the imperative for an enhanced grid, we are working closely with our trusted network of partners to deliver the technology required to fully unlock the potential of simplified battery storage and power conversion.”
