LONDON: ITM Power has signed a contract to provide its NEPTUNE II electrolyser system to a leading Spanish cement manufacturer, marking the company’s first deployment in the sector.
The NEPTUNE II is a fully autonomous 2MW electrolyser designed to produce green hydrogen. The system includes power conversion and balance-of-plant components, allowing for easy deployment as a complete package.
The Spanish cement producer plans to integrate the unit into its production process, blending green hydrogen with natural gas in cement kilns to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. According to the International Energy Agency, the cement industry accounts for roughly 8% of global CO2 emissions.
ITM Power expects to recognize revenue from the contract in fiscal year 2026, citing shorter lead times for its NEPTUNE II containers.
“We are delighted that a well-established cement producer has chosen ITM for this project,” CEO Dennis Schulz said in a statement. “This will be ITM’s first system deployment in the cement industry.”
