NOVONIX and Panasonic Energy sign deal for battery materials

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA: NOVONIX Limited, a leading battery materials and technology company, and Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of electric vehicle batteries in North America, have signed a binding agreement for the supply of high-performance synthetic graphite anode material.

The agreement covers at least 10,000 tonnes of anode material to be delivered to Panasonic Energy’s U.S. plants from NOVONIX’s Riverside facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, between 2025 and 2028.

The deal supports both companies’ goals of expanding their local production and reducing their carbon footprint of their lithium-ion battery supply chain for electric vehicles.

NOVONIX’s Riverside facility, which received US$100 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, is set to become the first large-scale production site for synthetic graphite in North America.

The two companies have been collaborating since 2019 on product sampling and testing to meet Panasonic Energy’s product requirements.

The CTO of Panasonic Energy and the CEO of NOVONIX expressed their excitement and satisfaction with the partnership and its benefits for the industry and the environment.
