Altice USA may sell Cheddar News to Regent LP

Altice USA, the fourth-largest U.S. cable provider, is in talks to sell its financial news streaming service Cheddar News to a private equity firm, Regent LP, CNBC reported.

The deal could be worth up to $50 million, depending on Cheddar’s future performance. Cheddar, which targets millennials, was acquired by Altice USA for $200 million in 2019. The sale comes as Altice USA faces falling profits and stock prices amid broadband losses. Neither Altice USA nor Regent LP commented on the deal.

Altice USA is a cable television provider owned by Patrick Drahi, a Franco-Israeli businessman. Altice USA has about 4.9 million customers in 21 states and offers pay TV, internet, phone, and mobile services.
