BrainChip Holdings Ltd, a leader in edge AI on-chip processing and learning, has announced the hiring of M. Anthony (Tony) Lewis as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Tony will replace Peter Van der Made, the co-founder and current CTO of BrainChip, who will retire at the end of the year.
Tony has extensive experience in AI and neuromorphic computing, having worked at HP, Inc. and Qualcomm, Inc. He has also been involved in academia and entrepreneurship, and holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering with a focus on robotics and neuroscience.
Peter, who has been the driving force behind BrainChip since its inception, will continue to serve the company as a board member, a scientific advisor, and a technologist emeritus. He expressed his satisfaction with handing over the reins to Tony and his team.
Sean Hehir, BrainChip CEO, welcomed Tony to the leadership team and thanked Peter for his contributions to the company. He said he was excited about the future growth of BrainChip and its flagship product, Akida, a fully digital, event-based AI processor that mimics the human brain.
