Xiaomi to replace MIUI with HyperOS

Xiaomi has announced that it will be replacing its traditional MIUI operating system with a brand-new OS called HyperOS. The global roll out will take place throughout 2024, but the company has yet to confirm what devices will be eligible for an upgrade.

HyperOS is said to feature a completely new rewritten architecture and is designed to function beyond just smartphones. The new OS is based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system.

HyperOS is meant to unite Xiaomi’s ecosystem that includes a wide range of products, including smart home devices, wearables, and even cars. This suggests that HyperOS could be a more unified and integrated operating system than MIUI, which is currently only used on smartphones.

Xiaomi has not revealed any screenshots or other information about HyperOS, but the company is expected to share more details in the coming months. It will be interesting to see how HyperOS compares to MIUI and other Android-based operating systems.
