SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited (SkyCity) announced today that its Chief Executive Officer, Michael Ahearne, will resign from his position by the end of March 2024 and move back to Europe with his family. Michael joined SkyCity in December 2017 as the Group Chief Operating Officer and became the Chief Executive Officer in November 2020.
SkyCity Chair, Julian Cook, praised Michael for his leadership and dedication during a challenging period for the business. He said that Michael had to deal with the fire and rebuild of the New Zealand International Convention Centre, the impact of COVID-19, and the regulatory issues in SkyCity Adelaide. He also said that Michael had improved SkyCity’s compliance functions and prepared the business for the future.
SkyCity has started looking for a new Chief Executive Officer, considering both internal and external candidates. SkyCity will inform the market when it finds a suitable replacement for Michael.
