Rami Baitiéh to take over as Morrisons CEO from David Potts

Morrisons has announced that Rami Baitiéh, the current CEO of Carrefour France, will succeed David Potts as its new CEO in November. Potts, who has led the UK supermarket chain for nine years, will step down and oversee the transition.

Baitiéh said he was honoured to join Morrisons and praised its unique position as a food manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer. He also thanked Potts for his role in facilitating the handover.

Sir Terry Leahy, senior advisor at CD&R, Morrisons’s owner, commended Baitiéh’s track record and leadership skills. He also thanked Potts for his outstanding service and achievements, including the acquisition of McColl’s and the relaunch of the Morrisons More Card loyalty programme.

Potts said he was privileged to have led Morrisons and expressed his confidence in its future. He also revealed that he had agreed to step down if an outstanding successor was identified.

Morrisons also reported a 2.9 per cent increase in like-for-like sales and a 3.1 per cent increase in total sales for the third quarter.
