Regal Food Products Group diversifies with catering packaging acquisition

Regal Food Products Group Ltd, a Bradford-based company that owns brands such as Regal Foods and Yorkshire Baking Company, has announced the acquisition of Packaging ‘R’ Us, a supplier and manufacturer of catering packaging.

The deal is part of Regal’s long-term strategy of expanding and strengthening its offerings for the wholesale and food service markets.

Packaging ‘R’ Us specialises in a range of disposable food packaging solutions, including plastic and foil containers, disposable utensils and catering foil. The firm has been operating for over 20 years and has a loyal customer base across the UK.

Regal Food Products Group CEO Younis Chaudhry said that the acquisition would enable Regal to diversify its product range and offer catering packaging, in addition to existing services such as ingredients and finished food goods. He added that the acquisition would also enhance Regal’s wholesale arm of the business, by providing an eclectic range that would complement its existing products and brands.

Chaudhry said that Regal was pleased to bring its first non-food and drink business into the group, following on from its previous acquisition of Just Desserts Yorkshire 18 months ago. He said that Regal would use its existing teams, manufacturing expertise, distribution networks and channels to market to build and scale Packaging ‘R’ Us, which he described as “a great business”.

As part of the acquisition, Packaging ‘R’ Us will relocate its production to Regal’s main manufacturing and distribution facilities in Bradford. Chaudhry said that this would ensure a smooth integration of the two businesses and create operational efficiencies. He also said that Regal would invest in new equipment and technology to improve the quality and variety of the catering packaging products.

Chaudhry expressed his optimism about the future of Regal Food Products Group, saying that the company was well-positioned to grow and thrive in the wake of COVID-19 and Brexit. He said that Regal was always looking for new opportunities to diversify and innovate, and that the acquisition of Packaging ‘R’ Us was a testament to that vision.
