LONDON, UK: Sarah Bentley has resigned as the Chief Executive of Thames Water, the UK’s largest water and wastewater services company. She will be replaced by two interim CEOs, Alastair Cochran and Cathryn Ross, effective immediately.
Bentley joined Thames Water in 2020 and led the first phase of the turnaround of the company, which has faced challenges in improving its service for customers and environmental performance. She will step down from the Board today and will continue to support the interim CEOs as needed.
Thames Water’s Chairman Ian Marchant thanked Bentley for her contribution and said that she had built a first class executive team. He said that the Board will begin the search for a new Chief Executive and will make further announcements in due course.
Bentley said that it was an honour to take on such a significant challenge and a privilege to serve Thames Water’s dedicated and inspirational colleagues. She said that she had laid the foundations for the company’s future success and wished everyone involved in the turnaround the very best.
