Apple Watch to sync across multiple devices in future update, leaks suggest

Posted on April 27, 2023November 8, 2023

Reported leaks suggest that the Apple Watch will soon have the ability to sync across multiple Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Currently, the smartwatch relies on a companion iPhone for setup, app management, and backup, which can be done either locally on a Mac or PC or through iCloud.

The specifics of this new functionality are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to arrive with the upcoming watchOS 10 software update, which is rumored to be the biggest update since 2015.

In addition to this news, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is developing a dedicated Health app for iPad, which will be part of the upcoming iPadOS 17 update. The company is also expected to launch an AI-powered health coaching service.

Furthermore, there are rumors that Apple is developing a “special version of iPadOS 17” specifically designed for larger iPad displays.

The company is said to be working on a 14.1-inch iPad with support for two 6K Thunderbolt displays, which is expected to be released in 2024.

If this product comes to fruition, it will surpass the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro in size and even the MacBook Air M2, which measures 13.6 inches diagonally.

iPadOS 17 is also expected to come with various lock screen customizations that were part of the iOS 16 update. Apple plans to preview both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, which will take place from June 5-9.

As with any leaked information, it’s important to take this news with a grain of salt. However, if these reports turn out to be accurate, Apple Watch users will soon be able to enjoy greater flexibility in syncing their devices, while iPad users can expect a range of health and lock screen customizations, as well as the possibility of larger displays in the future.
