Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has announced that Anne O’Leary will be taking on the role of Head of Office at Meta Ireland, in addition to her current role as Vice President in the company’s EMEA Global Business Group division. The position was left vacant by Rick Kelley, who recently left the social media firm.

Meta has faced significant downsizing in recent times, with 11,000 job losses globally announced last November, resulting in over 300 job cuts in Ireland. The company currently employs around 2,600 people in Ireland. In March, Meta announced another round of redundancies, resulting in around 50 job losses in its Irish recruitment division and fewer than 20 layoffs in the Irish-based data centre team. It is anticipated that more staff in Ireland will be impacted by expected redundancies in Meta’s business groups next month.

As Vice President, Ms. O’Leary leads the sales team responsible for medium-sized businesses in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In her new role, she will work closely with the Meta Ireland leadership team on matters related to the Irish office, which serves as the company’s international headquarters. She will also oversee governance and lead the implementation of the company’s future strategy.

“I’m delighted to be appointed Head of Meta Ireland and I’m very excited to work with an amazing leadership team to foster the fantastic culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusivity, and diversity at Meta in Ireland,” said Ms. O’Leary. “I’m looking forward to leading the team in Ireland who contribute important work to our company’s success.” Ms. O’Leary will assume her new role on May 1st. Prior to this, she served as CEO of Vodafone Ireland.
