Brett Redman appointed Chief Executive Officer for TransGrid

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Spark Infrastructure has announced the appointment of Mr Brett Redman as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TransGrid.

Mr Redman will commence as TransGrid’s CEO on 16 November 2021. Spark Infrastructure holds a 15.01% interest in TransGrid.

Until April 2021, Mr Redman was Managing Director & CEO of AGL Energy Limited (AGL), Australia’s largest energy generator and a leading energy retailer of energy. Prior to his appointment as CEO of AGL, Mr Redman held senior leadership roles across AGL, including Chief Financial Officer.

Mr Redman has extensive experience in managing complex change and transition issues in the energy industry. During his time with AGL, Mr Redman led major transformational investment opportunities, including the creation of the Powering Australian Renewables Fund (PowAR) to kick-start large-scale wind and solar development opportunities.

Before joining AGL, Mr Redman held senior finance roles in major Australian and overseas companies including the multinational industrial gas business BOC and Australian industrial conglomerate CSR. He originally trained as a chartered accountant while working for Deloitte.

Mr Redman will take up his position in mid-November and replace Mr Brian Salter who was appointed as acting CEO of TransGrid following Mr Paul Italiano’s departure on 31 July 2021.
