LONDON: JSC National Atomic Company (Kazatomprom) announced the following change to the Company’s senior management team.
Chief Operating Officer (COO):
Dauren Kunanbayev resigned from his position as COO effective 04 March 2021, and has chosen to leave the Company to pursue other interests. The Company thanks Mr. Kunanbayev for his many contributions in various management roles at both Kazatomprom and in several of the Company’s subsidiaries.
Aliya Akzholova, currently Director of the Mining Department at Kazatomprom, will be acting as interim COO while the internal and Board of Directors processes are undertaken to appoint a new COO.
Mrs. Akzholova obtained Hydrogeological and Geological Engineering degrees from Satbayev University (Kazakhstan National Technical University) and an MBA in Mining Management from MISiS, the National University of Science and Technology in Russia.
Aliya Akzholova has more than twelve years of experience in the Kazatomprom group, including different on-site and managerial positions at Company’s mining subsidiaries.
She currently serves as Kazatomprom’s representative on the Supervisory Boards of JV Inkai LLP, JV Khorassan-U LLP, Kyzylkum LLP, Ortalyk LLP, JV KATCO LLP and JV Budenovskoe LLP.
“We respect Mr. Kunanbayev’s decision to leave the Company, thank him for his contributions to Kazatomprom’s development, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” said Galymzhan Pirmatov, Kazatomprom’s Chief Executive Officer.
“I would also like to extend my thanks to Mrs. Akzholova for accepting the interim appointment, as her expertise and experience will be a valuable asset to Kazatomprom and all its stakeholders in continuing to build a successful and resilient international company.”
Kazatomprom’s senior management team currently consists of:

· Kamila Syzdykova, Chief Financial Officer;
· Askar Batyrbayev, Chief Commercial Officer;
· Aliya Akzholova, acting Chief Operations Officer;
· Mazhit Sharipov, Chief Nuclear Fuel Cycle Officer;
· Beksultan Bekmuratov, Chief Human Resources and Transformation Officer
· Yerlan Tuleugozhin, acting Chief Strategy and Development Officer;
· Marat Yelemessov, Managing Director of Legal Support and Risks.
Kazatomprom is the world’s largest producer of uranium, with the Company’s attributable production representing approximately 23% of global primary uranium production in 2020.
