WASHINGTON – U.S. artificial intelligence startup Luma AI said it has raised $900 million in a Series C funding round led by HUMAIN, a Saudi Arabian AI company owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), to develop advanced multimodal AI systems.
The funding round, announced at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, included significant participation from AMD Ventures and existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Amplify Partners, and Matrix Partners. The capital will be used to train large-scale “World Models,” a type of foundational AI that learns from video, audio, and language data to understand and simulate the physical world.
A key part of the strategy involves Luma AI becoming an anchor customer for a massive new AI supercluster, named “Project Halo,” being built by HUMAIN in Saudi Arabia. The 2-gigawatt facility is positioned to be one of the world’s largest compute infrastructure projects, providing the power necessary to train next-generation AI models.
“This investment underscores an important point in HUMAIN’s philosophy: we are not only funding the next wave of AI, we’re building the full value chain that makes it possible,” said Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN.
Luma AI, known for its Ray3 video generation model which is already integrated into Adobe’s products, aims to use the new resources to expand from entertainment and advertising into robotics, simulation, and personalized education.

The partnership also deepens ties between the two companies on sovereign AI initiatives. Luma AI’s models were the first launched within HUMAIN Create, a platform focused on developing AI products tailored for the Arabic language and cultural context.
