Airalo, the world’s largest travel eSIM provider, has announced a $220 million investment led by global private equity giant CVC, pushing its valuation past $1 billion and earning unicorn status.
With this funding round—including $185 million from CVC Asia Fund VI and support from Peak XV and Antler Elevate—Airalo is charging ahead with major upgrades to its mobile experience, unlimited data plans, and enterprise platform.
Founded in 2019, Airalo’s platform enables instant mobile network access in 200+ destinations. Serving more than 20 million users globally, the company plans to roll out expansive new data bundles this July, including voice and text options for select markets.
The refreshed Airalo app will offer a more seamless experience across web and mobile, while its enterprise tools promise to reduce roaming costs by up to 90% for companies.
“This funding marks a turning point not just for Airalo, but for the future of travel connectivity,” said CEO Ahmet Bahadir Ozdemir. “We’re delivering more flexible plans, faster performance, and a user experience tailored to every journey.”
CVC’s Siddharth Patel praised Airalo’s growth: “As the clear category leader, Airalo is redefining global roaming with a scalable, digital-first model.”
With enhanced offerings, expanded business tools, and API integrations, Airalo is positioning itself as the infrastructure backbone for mobile-first travelers and modern enterprises worldwide.
