LONDON: Equipmake, a leader in electrification technologies across the automotive and specialty vehicle industries, has signed a £650,000 development agreement with CorPower Ocean AB, a Swedish wave energy device developer. The collaboration marks a pivotal step in advancing wave energy technology.

Under the agreement, Equipmake will design a generator and silicon carbide (SiC) inverter system tailored to CorPower Ocean’s cutting-edge wave energy systems. This first phase is part of a program aimed at accelerating the commercialization of CorPower’s wave energy technology and enabling large-scale production within five years.

CorPower Ocean specializes in “CorPack” wave energy clusters, modular systems that serve as the building blocks for massive wave farms. These clusters, ranging from 10 to 30 megawatts, integrate wave energy converters into a collection hub that delivers grid-quality electricity at standard voltages used in offshore wind.

Equipmake’s expertise in advanced electric motors, inverters, and zero-emission power systems will enhance CorPower’s technology, streamlining production and improving scalability. The partnership offers Equipmake a foothold in the renewable energy sector, capitalizing on growing global demand for sustainable energy solutions.

“This agreement with CorPower Ocean highlights Equipmake’s ability to provide high-performance electrification solutions to forward-thinking industries,” said Ian Foley, Equipmake CEO. “Ocean energy holds significant promise as a sustainable power source, and we are thrilled to support CorPower Ocean’s transformative technology.”

Patrik Möller, CorPower Ocean CEO, expressed similar enthusiasm, calling the partnership a “major step forward” for their wave energy systems. “This agreement strengthens the performance and scalability of our technology, bringing us closer to delivering reliable, clean energy on a global scale,” he said.

The collaboration underscores the potential for renewable energy growth as industries continue transitioning toward sustainable solutions.
