Nine Entertainment appoints Matthew Stanton as CEO & MD

SYDNEY: Nine Entertainment Co. (ASX: NEC) announced Thursday the appointment of Matthew Stanton as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective immediately.
The Nine Board confirmed Stanton’s appointment following a comprehensive international search process. Stanton has an extensive background in leading transformation programs across various sectors, including media, food and beverage, and retail.
He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Barambah Organics, Chief Transformation Officer at Woolworths, and Chief Executive Officer of Bauer Media (now Are Media).
Stanton joined Nine in 2022 as Chief Strategy Officer and has been acting as Chief Executive Officer since October 2024. During his tenure as Acting CEO, Stanton reset Nine’s operating model, refreshed the executive team, and accelerated strategic and cultural reforms.
Nine Chair Catherine West praised Stanton’s appointment, stating, “Matt was clearly the best credentialed leader to maintain the momentum on our strategic and cultural transformation. He has done an outstanding job as Acting CEO.”
