Infobip and Nokia partner to accelerate global app development

Infobip, a leader in cloud communications, and Nokia have entered into a partnership that promises to revolutionize the developer landscape. This collaboration will empower developers worldwide to harness the combined power of both companies’ Application Programmable Interface (API) platforms, paving the way for rapid development of a diverse range of applications that leverage telco network capabilities.

Infobip’s acclaimed Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) equips developers with a suite of APIs that enable the integration of real-time omnichannel communication features, including SMS, voice, video, chat apps, and network APIs. Complementing this, Nokia’s Network as Code platform with its developer portal provides access to cutting-edge 5G network features such as on-demand quality of service (QoS), precise device location, and network slicing, alongside robust 4G functionalities.

The synergy between Infobip and Nokia’s platforms is set to simplify the development process, offering developers a comprehensive toolkit for crafting new use cases and boosting application performance.

Nokia’s Network as Code initiative fosters a global ecosystem that unites networks, systems integrators, and software developers under a common framework, guided by standards from the GSMA Open Gateway initiative and the Linux Foundation’s CAMARA project. Both Infobip and Nokia are active contributors to these industry-shaping efforts.

Infobip’s platform, already a finalist in the GSMA Open Gateway Challenge, features CAMARA-compliant APIs like Number Verify and SIM Swap, with plans to expand its offerings to include Device Location and Quality on Demand APIs.

This strategic alliance is designed to streamline the developer experience, eliminating the complexities of underlying network technologies and enabling faster integration of capabilities into applications. Since its inception in September 2023, Nokia’s Network as Code platform has garnered collaboration agreements with 11 network operators and ecosystem partners, signaling a new era of interconnected development.

Matija Ražem, VP of Business Development, at Infobip said: “This agreement with Nokia further demonstrates how Infobip is helping telcos deliver new services and gain new revenue. We will continue to build and offer additional CAMARA-compliant APIs worldwide, working closely with our telco partners to expose customer experience friendly APIs to developers It is testament to our global market-leading CPaaS position, strong developer relations and history of strategic telco collaborations. These are essential to increase the potential for a successful collaboration and faster time to revenue.”

Shkumbin Hamiti, Head of Network Monetization Platform, Cloud and Network Services at Nokia, said: “This partnering agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to work closely with the developer community. It is about expanding choice and scale and giving developers a one-stop shop for extracting value from Infobip’s and Nokia’s platforms. We look forward to working with Infobip and maximizing our respective technologies.”
