Great Places Housing Group CEO Matt Harrison to step down after 10 years

LONDON, UK: Matt Harrison, the Chief Executive Officer of Great Places Housing Group, has announced his decision to step down from his role by the end of June 2024. Harrison has been the CEO of the housing association since 2013, after serving as the Executive Director of Development for 20 years.

Under Matt Harrison, leadership, Great Places has grown to become one of the largest and most successful housing associations in the north of England, with over 25,500 homes and a turnover of £168M.

He has also spearheaded several initiatives, such as the creation of an in-house construction company, joint ventures with other housing associations, the transfer and integration of Equity Housing Group, the establishment of a charitable foundation and an in-house repairs service, and the delivery of support services to disadvantaged people, including rough sleepers.

Harrison said that he was proud of the achievements of Great Places and that the organisation was well-positioned to face the future challenges of the sector. He also revealed that a new Chief Property Officer would be recruited soon and that a new Corporate Plan would be unveiled shortly.

Mervyn Jones, the Chair of Great Places, thanked Harrison for his dedication and vision and said that he would leave Great Places in a strong position to continue to invest in its customers, homes and communities. He also said that the process to recruit a successor would begin in the next few days.
