Gimv Anchor invests in Dutch industrial tech firm Batenburg Techniek

AMSTERDAM: Gimv Anchor Investments has acquired a stake in Batenburg Techniek, a leading Dutch provider of industrial electrification and automation solutions, the companies announced Wednesday.

The Rotterdam-based company, which reported €342 million in revenue in 2025 and employs more than 1,300 people, will retain VP Capital and management as co-shareholders. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Batenburg Techniek, founded in 1919, operates across the full technical value chain, supplying hardware, software, engineering, installation and maintenance services. The company has posted average annual revenue growth of about 10% over the past decade.

The firm serves clients across multiple sectors, including industry, energy, digital and water infrastructure, utilities, logistics and technology-driven horticulture. Its positioning addresses challenges related to grid congestion, the energy transition, electric transport, labor scarcity and digitalization, according to the company.

“Batenburg Techniek operates where the future of industry is taking shape: at the intersection of electrification and automation,” said Bart Troubleyn, managing partner and head of Gimv Anchor. “The company has a reputable name in the Netherlands, with a long-standing client base and a differentiating combination of engineering depth and software talent.”

The investment marks Gimv Anchor’s first in a Dutch champion, following previous investments in Cegeka and BEL 20-listed Azelis. Gimv Anchor is a joint venture between Gimv and Worxlnvest focused on building and backing European companies as long-term shareholders.

VP Capital, a single-family office based in Belgium and the Netherlands, said it views the partnership as a natural next step for the company’s development. “In Gimv Anchor, we have found a partner who shares our long-term perspective and our belief in Batenburg Techniek’s strategy and ambitions,” said Guus van Puijenbroek of VP Capital.

Batenburg Techniek CEO David Peters said the company welcomes Gimv Anchor’s sector expertise and long-term perspective as it accelerates its strategy and continues serving clients in their electrification and automation journeys.

The transaction remains subject to customary conditions, including regulatory clearance, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Gimv, a European investment company listed on Euronext Brussels, manages more than €2 billion in assets across approximately 60 companies. VP Capital is B Corp-certified with CO2 reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
