SYDNEY: Locality Planning Energy Holdings Limited (ASX: LPE) has announced a strategic acquisition of PowerHub Pty Ltd, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth trajectory.
The deal adds up to 76 new sites and 4,642 service points to LPE’s expanding portfolio, extending the company’s regional footprint into Tasmania and South Australia for the first time, a statement said.
The Deal at a Glance
Under the Share Sale Agreement, LPE will acquire one hundred percent of PowerHub for a total consideration of up to $5.803 million. The acquisition includes thirty active sites with 1,697 active service points, a further 187 contracted service points due to go live by September 2027, and a pipeline of 46 sites representing 2,758 future service points. An initial $2.8 million payment will be made at completion from existing cash reserves, with the remaining consideration contingent on the activation of service points within five years of the completion date.
Strategic Significance
This acquisition represents a significant leap forward for LPE, delivering an 18.9 percent increase in sites and an 11.6 percent increase in service points. These figures exclude the service points announced on 15 July 2026 as part of the three residential development partnerships expanding LPE’s FY27 growth pipeline. The move extends LPE’s embedded network platform into new territories, including Tasmania and South Australia, while adding scalable developer relationships through an already contracted development pipeline that supports the company’s growth trajectory. The acquisition also demonstrates LPE’s capability to grow through disciplined acquisition.
CEO and Chair Perspectives
Scott Taylor, LPE CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating that PowerHub is a strong fit for the company, aligning with their strategy to expand their presence in the embedded networks market and provide greater value to residents and property owners. He noted that the team is excited about bringing their competitive energy offerings and service to new customers and is committed to a seamless transition with no disruption to services.
Craig Chambers, LPE Chair, added that PowerHub extends LPE’s platform into new regions and adds scale to an already contracted pipeline. He confirmed that the Board approved this acquisition against the same disciplined capital criteria they apply to every investment, describing it as a further step in the growth plan they have set out to the market.
Integration and Transition
Settlement of the transaction is expected to occur today, 13 August 2026. The parties have agreed to an integration plan, and the sellers of PowerHub will be providing certain transitional services to LPE to ensure a smooth transition with a complete handover to LPE by 30 September 2026. LPE will also maintain an enduring relationship with PowerHub’s key personnel, further extending the company’s capability while retaining the ongoing relationships PowerHub has developed.
