CHARLOTTE: Bouygues Construction has finalized the acquisition of Vannoy Construction, a prominent general contractor based in North Carolina, in a move that solidifies the French construction giant’s permanent presence in the southeastern United States.
The deal, completed June 30, brings Vannoy Construction’s 2025 revenue of €873 million ($950 million) into Bouygues’ portfolio. The acquisition aligns with Bouygues Construction’s broader international growth strategy as the company reported €10.6 billion in global revenue for 2025.
Strategic foothold in high-growth Southeast
Vannoy Construction operates from seven locations across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, serving public and private clients in healthcare, education, manufacturing and retail sectors. The company, founded in 1952 by Jim and Wilma Vannoy in Jefferson, North Carolina, has built a reputation for excellence in high-value project delivery.
The acquisition strengthens Bouygues Construction’s existing U.S. footprint, which includes projects in Florida, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. The southeastern region’s robust demographic and economic growth has driven significant investment in infrastructure, health care facilities, educational institutions, industrial buildings and data centers.
Bouygues Construction officials noted the acquisition creates opportunities for synergies with other Bouygues group companies already active in the region, including Equans and Colas, potentially offering clients enhanced integrated services.
Leadership and continuity assured
Pierre-Éric Saint-André, chief executive officer of Bouygues Construction, described the acquisition as a landmark moment for the company’s U.S. operations.
“This acquisition is a landmark in strengthening our operations in the United States,” Saint-André said. “It makes perfect sense, and I am in no doubt that it will help unlock Vannoy Construction’s growth potential and add resilience to Bouygues Construction’s growth model in mature economies.”
Saint-André emphasized shared values between the two companies, including long-term vision, collective commitment to projects and dedication to building relationships of trust with clients and partners.
Mark Vannoy, president of Vannoy Construction, said the transition represents an evolution rather than a departure from the company’s heritage.
“This operation signals a new phase in our company’s history,” Vannoy said. “It’s an evolution, not a break with the past. Since 1952, my family has been focused on developing a business built on trust, respect for people, and a commitment to quality.”
Vannoy confirmed the management team, brand and culture would remain unchanged, with Bouygues Construction providing resources including engineering expertise, innovation capacity and international network support.
Bouygues Construction employs 35,600 people across more than 50 countries and specializes in designing and building structures for health care, education, transportation and low-carbon energy sectors.
