SAN FRANCISCO: Asana, Inc. (NYSE: ASAN, LTSE: ASAN) said Monday it has acquired StackAI, a no-code platform that lets companies design, deploy and govern AI agents across enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM and ITSM.
The deal combines Asana’s work management platform with StackAI’s multi-agent execution engine, allowing customers to automate end-to-end business-critical workflows — from customer support and IT service requests to compliance and cross-functional operations. Terms were not disclosed.
StackAI, based in San Francisco, counts customers in financial services, health care and professional services — industries with stringent security and governance requirements. The platform reads and acts across tools including Salesforce, AWS, Docusign, Oracle and document systems through bi-directional sync.
“This acquisition accelerates our roadmap and marks the next phase of human-agent work,” Asana CEO Dan Rogers said in a statement. “StackAI now lets them go further, agentifying the most complex business processes end-to-end, across every system and tool their business runs on.”
Asana positions the combination as a bridge: The StackAI engine executes cross-system workflows, while Asana provides the context, ownership and history of every project through its Work Graph®. AI Teammates pull context from Asana into StackAI workflows and return actions and data back into the platform.
Unlike single-user AI tools, Asana’s agents are designed for multiplayer collaboration — allowing multiple people to interact with, approve and improve a single agent through handoffs and shared plans.
In an internal proof of concept, Rogers said Asana transformed its search engine optimization spending process in minutes. “StackAI agents quickly pulled live data across five marketing systems, summarized the insights, and handed work over to AI Teammates trained by their human counterparts to take action,” he said. “We were blown away.”
StackAI co-founders Tony Rosinol and Bernard Aceituno, both MIT Ph.D.s, are joining Asana as part of the acquisition. Rosinol said general-purpose agents “talk” while specialized agents “act,” and joining Asana allows StackAI to scale.
“We bring the cross-system workflow engine; Asana brings a company’s entire business context, memory, team workflows and governance — along with an established enterprise sales motion and thousands of customers waiting for exactly what we’ve built,” Rosinol said.
StackAI will continue to operate as its own product and brand following the acquisition.
Asana, founded in 2008, pitches itself as the operating system for human-agent teams, built on 18 years of multiplayer architecture and enterprise-grade governance.
