YPRES: Melexis (Euronext Brussels: MELE), a global semiconductor company, has formally established a wholly foreign-owned enterprise in China, the company announced today.

The new entity, Melexis Integrated System (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to expand its presence in the Chinese market. The move includes a restructuring of its regional operations to operate as an independent entity in the country.

The company said the new structure will allow it to operate with the agility of a local player while maintaining global standards. The subsidiary will be headquartered in Shanghai.

As part of the reorganization, Melexis has created a dedicated robotics team in China to develop new products for the sector. The company said the team will focus on providing everything from individual integrated circuits to full module solutions.

“This autonomy allows us to move at ‘China speed,’ ensuring our innovations are perfectly aligned with the needs of our local partners while driving our global growth,” CEO Marc Biron said in a statement.

Melexis has maintained a presence in China for two decades through local representative offices. The company said the new structure will support local decision-making and the development of customized solutions for the Chinese market.
