PARIS: French diagnostics group bioMérieux said on Thursday it has acquired U.S.-based Accellix, a developer of rapid, automated flow cytometry platforms, in a deal worth around €35 million.
The acquisition strengthens bioMérieux’s pharmaceutical quality control business and expands its portfolio of solutions for advanced therapies, including cell and gene treatments.
Accellix’s compact platform delivers results in under 30 minutes, enabling real-time quality checks during cell therapy manufacturing. The company employs about 70 staff across sites in San Jose, California, and Jerusalem, Israel.
bioMérieux, which has collaborated with Accellix since 2020, said the deal positions it at the forefront of innovation in quality control for advanced therapies. “Their promise is immense, but their success depends on uncompromising quality standards,” said Yasha Mitrotti, Executive Vice President, Industrial Applications at bioMérieux.
Accellix CEO Greg Hamilton said joining bioMérieux would allow the company to scale its technology and accelerate patient access to life-saving therapies.
bioMérieux, listed on Euronext Paris, reported revenues of €4 billion in 2024, with more than 93% of sales outside France.
