SEOUL: DoubleU Games has finalized its acquisition of Paxie Games, a Turkey-based casual game developer, following merger clearance by the Turkish competition authority. The transaction, first announced in December 2024, closed on March 26.

Paxie Games specializes in the rapidly growing Merge 2 genre, with its flagship title, Merge Studio: Fashion Makeover, achieving more than 28 million cumulative downloads and generating $34 million in revenue by February 2025. This acquisition bolsters DoubleU Games’ global expansion strategy, securing a key growth engine as it strengthens its presence in the Turkish casual gaming market and expands its worldwide network.

DoubleU Games anticipates significant synergies from the deal, citing overlapping user demographics. Both companies primarily target female audiences and share similar marketing channels, offering opportunities for efficient collaboration. The acquisition also grants DoubleU Games access to Paxie Games’ casual game development expertise, laying a solid foundation for long-term growth.

“The acquisition of Paxie Games will further strengthen our competitiveness in the global gaming market,” said Jay Choi, CFO of DoubleU Games. “We will continue to explore opportunities with high-potential companies to support our long-term growth strategy.”

Direnç Çelik, CEO of Paxie Games, expressed optimism about the partnership. “Merge Studio, our rapidly scaling hit game, is only the beginning. Through full-scale collaboration with DoubleU Games, we are set to achieve even greater growth by expanding our portfolio with exciting new games, reaching a broader audience, and further growing our business,” Çelik said.

The Turkish mobile gaming industry has emerged as a global hub for innovative studios, with a high concentration of small- to medium-sized developers. Recent mergers and acquisitions highlight its growing influence, such as Zynga’s $1.8 billion purchase of Peak Games in 2020. Other success stories include Dream Games, the creator of the globally popular Royal Match.

By acquiring Paxie Games, DoubleU Games signals its commitment to investing in the fast-evolving Turkish gaming market and leveraging its potential to propel future growth.
