
LONDON: Ibstock plc, a prominent UK manufacturer of building products and solutions, has announced that Richard Akers will join the company as Non-Executive Director and Chair Designate, effective May 5, 2025.
Akers will succeed Jonathan Nicholls as Chair following the conclusion of the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 15, 2025.
Nicholls, who has been part of the Ibstock board since its IPO in 2015 and served as Chair since 2018, will retire after nine years of service. Reflecting on his tenure, Nicholls expressed gratitude to his colleagues and praised the leadership of Joe Hudson, Chief Executive Officer, and Chris McLeish, Chief Financial Officer.
Akers, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in property and building industries, has held notable roles, including a 20-year stint at Land Securities Group PLC and leadership positions at Miller Homes Limited, Redrow PLC, and Barratt Developments PLC. His expertise in these sectors is expected to be instrumental in Ibstock’s continued growth and operational strategy.
Joe Hudson welcomed Akers, emphasizing his relevant experience as the company navigates recovery in its markets and builds on its growth ambitions.
