Jabil Inc. expands presence in India with new factory in Gujarat

GANDHINAGAR: Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL), a global leader in engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions, announced today the opening of a new factory in Gujarat, marking its second facility in India. The expansion is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in November 2024, aimed at exploring long-term goals, opportunities, and support with the state.
“We are proud to welcome Gujarat to the Jabil footprint, which totals over 100 sites in more than 25 countries worldwide,” said Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President, Global Business Units at Jabil. “Today’s shifting business landscape has accelerated the need for enterprises to adapt to uncertainties and volatile market conditions. Given the diversity of our business and the connected systems powering our network of factories around the globe, this strategic expansion is an example of how Jabil is well positioned to navigate and implement solutions that best serve the needs of our customers.”
The announcement coincides with a new MoU signing with the Gujarat state government, held during the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit in Gandhinagar. In the short term, Jabil and the state will explore the possibility of building a post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics facility with advanced co-packaged optics capabilities.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel lauded the investment, stating, “This is an exciting moment for Gujarat. As a crucial anchor investor, Jabil’s presence in the state will not only lead to job creation for the next generation of talent, but its highly-regarded photonics capabilities will facilitate the development of a domestic semiconductor industry, leading to greater innovation and increase our competitiveness for the future.”
Jabil has been a significant player in the photonics space for over a decade, offering expertise in designing photonics devices and systems, developing amplifiers, transceivers, laser packages, and optical networking products such as ROADMs and optical switches. The company provides both prototyping and large-scale manufacturing services, reducing time to market for photonics solutions in telecommunications, data communications, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Jabil’s diverse industry portfolio includes semiconductor equipment, data center power and cooling solutions, electric and hybrid vehicles in automotive, pharmaceutical delivery solutions, and humanoid robots in warehouse automation. Through its technical and design capabilities, manufacturing know-how, supply chain insights, and global product management expertise, Jabil continues to serve a wide range of industries worldwide.
