Cencosud S.A., one of the largest retail conglomerates in Latin America, announced today that Rodrigo Larraín Kaplan will be its new CEO, starting from March 1, 2024.
Larraín, who has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, is currently the CEO of Cencosud Shopping S.A., a subsidiary of the group. He has also served as the CFO of Cencosud S.A. and the CEO of the Shopping Centers Division for the Region.
Larraín was selected by the Board of Directors after a three-month recruitment process, which was reported to the Financial Market Commission (CMF). The Board praised Larraín’s competence, leadership, ethics, agility, and strategic vision, and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the company’s five-pillar strategy, focused on growth, innovation, sustainability, talent and financial strength.
The Board also thanked Renato Gutiérrez, who has been the interim CEO since October 2023, for his valuable contribution and professionalism. Gutiérrez will resume his position as Cencosud’s Corporate Manager of Management Control after the transition.
Larraín said he was grateful for the Board’s trust and looked forward to contributing to Cencosud’s continued growth and customer satisfaction. He also said he was excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead, and the strengths and commitment of the teams.
