If you are a fan of artificial intelligence and creativity, you might have heard of DALL-E 3, the latest and most powerful version of OpenAI’s image generator. DALL-E 3 can create amazing images from any text prompt, no matter how absurd or imaginative.
For example, you can ask DALL-E 3 to create a photo of a blue alligator driving a spaceship with planet Earth in the background, and it will do it!
But how can you access this amazing technology and unleash your own creativity? Well, there are two ways: one is through ChatGPT, OpenAI’s AI chatbot that lets you talk to a friendly and intelligent agent, and the other is through Bing Image Creator, a web app that lets you use DALL-E 3 for free with a Microsoft account.
In this blog post, I will show you how to use DALL-E 3 in ChatGPT, which requires a paid subscription to ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise. If you are not a subscriber, you can still try DALL-E 3 through Bing Image Creator, which I will cover in another post.
What is ChatGPT and why do you need it?
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot that can converse with you on any topic, answer your questions, help you with tasks, and entertain you with jokes, stories, games, and more. ChatGPT is powered by GPT-4, the latest and most advanced version of OpenAI’s natural language processing model. GPT-4 can understand and generate natural language at a human-like level, and even surpass humans in some tasks.
ChatGPT is available in different subscription tiers, depending on your needs and budget. The basic tier is ChatGPT Free, which lets you chat with GPT-3.5, a slightly older version of the model. The next tier is ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 per month and gives you access to GPT-4, as well as some additional features, such as DALL-E 3, browsing with Bing, advanced data analysis, and improved performance. The highest tier is ChatGPT Enterprise, which is tailored for large organizations and offers custom solutions and support.
How to use DALL-E 3 in ChatGPT
If you are a ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise subscriber, you can use DALL-E 3 within the chatbot, as it is integrated with GPT-4. This means you can ask GPT-4 to create images for you, and it will use DALL-E 3 to do so. Here are the steps to follow:
- Log in to ChatGPT Go to ChatGPT’s website, Chat.OpenAI.com, and log in with your account. If you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise by clicking on the Sign up button and following the instructions.
- Switch to GPT-4 Once you are logged in, you will see a dropdown menu on the top right corner of the chat window that says GPT-3.5. Click on it and select GPT-4. This will switch the chatbot to the latest version of the model, which includes DALL-E 3 and other features.
- Prompt GPT-4 to create an image Now you are ready to create some images with DALL-E 3. All you have to do is write your prompt for the image you want to see in the chat window. You can be as creative and wild as you want, as long as you are very specific about what you want the image to include. For example, you can write “a photo of a blue alligator driving a spaceship with planet Earth in the background.” Make sure you specify the style of the image, such as photo, painting, watercolor, 3D render, one-line drawing, etc. Otherwise, DALL-E 3 will choose a style for you, which might not be what you want.
- Download or regenerate your image After you write your prompt, GPT-4 will reply with an image that matches your description. You can click on the image to view it in full size and download it to your device. If you are not satisfied with the image, or you want to see more variations, you can click on the refresh button below the image. This will make DALL-E 3 generate a new image using the same prompt. You can do this as many times as you want, until you find the perfect image for you.
What can you do with your images?
Once you have created your images with DALL-E 3, you can do whatever you want with them. You can use them for personal or professional purposes, such as:
- Creating art and design projects
- Making memes and comics
- Illustrating stories and books
- Enhancing presentations and reports
- Sharing on social media and blogs
- Having fun and expressing yourself
- The only limit is your imagination!
