Big Table Group in talks to buy The Restaurant Group’s leisure business

LONDON, UK: Big Table Group, the owner of Cafe Rouge, is in talks to buy the Chiquito’s and Frankie and Benny’s chains from The Restaurant Group (TRG), according to a Sky News report.
The report said that TRG, which also owns Wagamama and Brunning & Price, would pay a multimillion pound dowry to Big Table to get rid of its leisure business.
TRG confirmed that it is in “advanced discussions” with Big Table, but said there is no guarantee that a deal will be reached or what the final terms will be.
TRG announced in March that it would close about 30% of its Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito outlets to improve its margins.
On Friday, it said that its Chairman Ken Hanna was resigning after facing pressure from activist investors to overhaul its management and profitability. TRG runs 380 restaurants and pubs in the UK.
