Concurrent Technologies ships new version of 3U VPX Plug-In Card

LONDON, UK: Concurrent Technologies (AIM: CNC), a global specialist in the design, development and manufacture of leading-edge embedded computer solutions for critical applications, has announced that it has engineered and shipped a new version of its flagship 3U VPX Plug-In Card.

The new variant, TR K9x/6sd-RCx, is based on an 11th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor with integrated GPGPU for AI and image processing. It has twice the memory capacity of the original TR K9x/6sd card, which has been successfully used in visual computing applications, including a previously announced £1.6M contract that contributed to the Company’s record 2022 order intake of £31.5M.

The new card also features PCI Express data and expansion planes for connection to accelerator boards, an XMC site for additional compute or I/O resources, and a direct-attached solid-state storage option. It is designed in alignment with the SOSA™ Technical Standard for rugged 3U VPX I/O Intensive Plug In Cards.

Nigel Jowitt, Director of Engineering at Concurrent Technologies, commented: “Our well-defined and streamlined product lifecycle process, augmented with our in-house manufacturing capability, allowed us to rapidly prototype this new product variant. The validation and environmental qualification steps were completed as planned by carefully managing and retiring risks. This enabled us to ship qualified products in a timeframe that delighted a lead customer, showing we are again on track to achieve one of our key strategic objectives of releasing more products faster.”
