OSLO: NEXT Biometrics, a global company in fingerprint sensor technology, has received an initial purchase order for its FAP 20 sensor from Credence ID, a US based leader in global mobile biometrics and credential reading devices.

Credence ID chose NEXT Biometric technology as it expands its existing high-end Android product line to now include a set of lower cost devices for markets that require FAP 20 sized sensors. The initial purchase order is for Credence ID market development activities in Africa, Latin America and South East Asia.

“We have selected NEXT Biometrics PIV certified FAP 20 fingerprint sensor to launch our “ECO” generation of handheld products that will be marketed separately from our existing FAP 30 devices. This will enable us to meet customers demand in the government ID and flexible Mobile ID device solutions. NEXT Biometrics active thermal technology will enable us to offer competitively priced, secure, high-performance PIV certified mobile ID devices to our customers “, said Yash Shah, Credence ID’s CTO.

The order is a first step for NEXT to grow with high-quality partners, such as Credence ID. NEXT sees this as an important entry point into selling more than 100,000 sensors per year, with this partnership alone, and to secure a stable base of recurring revenues.

NEXT’s FAP20 sensor (One Touch 2000) was recently certified by the FBI as tested and in compliance with the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) Image Quality Specifications (IQS). A review of the test data was conducted by the FBI’s Criminal Jus-tice Information Services Division.
