Nike, Inc. (NYSE: NKE) today announced that Jared Carver has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Converse, effective July 1, 2023. Carver, who has been with Converse for more than a decade, will succeed Scott Uzzell, who has served as CEO since 2019.
Carver is a consumer-first leader with a proven track record of success at Converse. Under Carver’s leadership, Converse has experienced significant growth. The company’s direct-to-consumer business has grown by more than 50% in the past two years, and its retail store count has increased by 20%. Converse has also launched several successful new product lines, including its Chuck Taylor All Star Disrupt CX and Run Star Hike sneakers.
“Jared is a natural leader who has a deep understanding of Converse and our consumers,” said John Donahoe, President and CEO of Nike. “He is the right person to lead Converse as we continue to grow the brand and drive innovation.”
Carver is a graduate of Harvard University and holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
“I am honored to be appointed CEO of Converse,” said Carver. “I am excited to work with the talented team at Converse to continue to grow the brand and bring our products to more consumers around the world.”
Uzzell, who has been with Nike for more than 20 years, will remain with the company in an advisory role through the end of the year.
“I am proud of what we have accomplished at Converse,” said Uzzell. “I am confident that Jared is the right person to lead the brand into its next chapter of growth.”
