Swoop acquires residential fibre infrastructure in Western Australia

SYDNEY: Swoop, a telecommunications company, has made a significant move by acquiring the conduit and fibre assets in a housing estate located near Geraldton, Western Australia.

The deal, valued at $500,000, is expected to generate $1.2 million in revenue over the next three years. The infrastructure is currently connected to approximately 900 existing homes in the Seacrest Estate.

Swoop’s CEO, Alex West, emphasized that this acquisition is part of their long-term strategy to deliver returns on high-margin fibre products. By offering high-speed fibre-based solutions as an alternative to existing providers, Swoop aims to enhance connectivity and service in regional Australia.

The company also plans to explore additional opportunities in this space while building its own Swoop Infrastructure brand for developers seeking better service and value.

This move comes shortly after Swoop divested its wholesale voice business, Voicehub, to Gold Coast-based telecommunications provider Pivotel for $9 million.

With this latest acquisition, Swoop strengthens its position geographically across the country, positioning itself for further growth in key products.
