Renault and Volvo launch Flexis SAS for next-gen electric vans

PARIS: Renault Group and Volvo Group have announced the completion of their joint venture, Flexis SAS, marking a significant leap in the production of next-generation electric vans. The new venture, which follows the binding agreements signed on October 6th, 2023, has received all necessary regulatory approvals and is poised to revolutionize urban logistics with its Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform.

Based in France, Flexis SAS aims to cater to the increasing demand for decarbonized and efficient urban delivery solutions. Both Renault Group and Volvo Group have committed to substantial investments, with a combined €300 million pledged over the next three years.

Additionally, CMA CGM Group, through its PULSE investment fund, has expressed a strategic interest in investing up to €120 million to support the venture’s focus on decarbonizing the logistics sector.

The collaboration brings together Renault Group’s expertise in electrification and its strong alliance with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors, and Volvo Group’s rich history in providing transport and infrastructure solutions. The first product from Flexis SAS, a fully electric van built on the SDV platform, is expected to roll out in 2026, setting a new standard for sustainable mobility.
