Advanced Petrochemical signs EPC contracts for the first IPA plant in the Middle East

Advanced Petrochemical Company (ADVANCED), a leading producer of polypropylene in Saudi Arabia, announced that its subsidiary, Advanced Polyolefins Industry Company, has signed Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contracts (EPC) with SGC eTEC Co., Ltd. and SGC Arabia Co. Ltd. for the construction of an Isopropanol (“IPA”) plant in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia.

The total contract value is USD 191,255,000 million and the contract duration is 32 months from the notice to proceed as per the provisions of the contracts. The IPA plant will utilize the technology provided by thyssenkrupp Uhde Engineering Services GmbH and will have a production capacity of 70,000 tons per annum.

The financial impact of the project is expected after the commencement of commercial operations expected by Q4 2026. The project is part of the Kingdom’s downstream industry strategy which is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. IPA is a versatile chemical that is used in various industries such as industrial solvents, medical and cosmetics applications, electronics and other downstream applications.

The IPA plant is considered to be the first of its kind and specialized in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. It represents a major step towards achieving product diversification for ADVANCED and enhancing the diversity of specialized chemicals in the petrochemical industry sector in the Kingdom.

ADVANCED is a joint stock company established in 2006 and listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange. It produces polypropylene products for local and international markets. It also owns 85% of Advanced Global Investment Company, which produces propylene, polypropylene, ethylene, polyethylene and other petrochemical products.
