Voltaris Power acquires Electronic Power Design to expand mission-critical power distribution capabilities

Combination brings together deep electrical engineering expertise and high-volume manufacturing to serve growing energy infrastructure markets

GOODYEAR: Voltaris Power LLC, a portfolio company of Mill Point Capital LLC, has acquired Electronic Power Design LLC, a Houston-based provider of mission-critical power distribution equipment serving data center, commercial and industrial markets, the company announced Tuesday.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Voltaris manufactures custom low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers and integrated power solutions for data center, utility, commercial and industrial markets. The acquisition adds EPD’s engineering expertise, industrialized high-volume manufacturing capacity and broader product portfolio, enabling Voltaris to address increasingly complex customer requirements across rapidly growing energy infrastructure sectors.

Founded in 1986, EPD brings four decades of industry experience and purpose-built manufacturing operations in Houston. The company’s principal products include custom low-voltage switchboards listed to UL 891 standards, power distribution units and related equipment. EPD also has extensive experience designing 800-volt direct current power systems for marine and offshore applications, expertise that is becoming increasingly relevant as data centers evaluate higher-voltage direct-current architectures.

The combined company is positioned to capitalize on long-term trends including the expansion of hyperscale and colocation data centers, rising power density associated with artificial intelligence workloads, continued electrical infrastructure investment and growing demand for resilient power systems.

“The combination represents a significant milestone in Voltaris’s growth, accelerating our value creation plan and creating a stronger, more comprehensive platform to serve customers’ evolving power distribution needs,” said Brandon Sarno, partner at Mill Point Capital.

Voltaris Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman Justin Smith said EPD’s experienced team, engineering talent and manufacturing capabilities are highly complementary to Voltaris.

“Together, we will be better positioned to expand capacity, accelerate product development and support customers as power requirements become larger and more complex,” Smith said.

EPD Chief Executive Officer John Janik said the combination builds on EPD’s four decades of engineering and manufacturing expertise.

“Voltaris gives us an opportunity to build on that foundation, expand our capabilities, accelerate innovation and continue delivering dependable, high-quality solutions for mission-critical applications,” Janik said.

Evercore served as financial advisor to EPD, and Haynes and Boone LLP served as legal counsel.
